I water mine every day (unless its wet), I think they need plenty of water for the potatoes to grow
I use a mixture of multi purpose/compost and grow in large containers I only us potato peelings which seem to sprout in the composter over winter0 -
HappyIdiot,
Earlies are normally planted from late March and I'd expect to be harvesting from early/mid June after the flowers have opened or buds dropped.
Maincrop planted mid april and ready when foliage has turned brown and stems withered, usually late August onwards
The extra time spent in ground for maincrops (about 8 weeks extra) means yields are much higher BUT you run a much greater risk of blight. I grow earlies to get crops when shop prices are higher tho with the amount I've planted this year I should be cropping for about 4 months solid and getting higher yields from the late harvested earlies.0 -
Thank you rhiwfield. This is my first time at this, but I think I can wait another couple of months before I raid them.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0
