Late payments & experian

Hi all,

Experian reports detail if you were late with a CC payment by 1 month, 2 months and 3 months.

Does anybody know if you were to miss a payment by a week whether this gets noted, or does it actually have to be over a month late?

Yes, you guessed it I was late. Thought the wife had paid it, she thought I had. Managed to get out of paying the late payment charge though!!

In my experience, if you miss a payment by even one day, the creditor is obliged to inform the credit reference agencies.

It depends on what the company to consider a late payment.

Ill give some examples.

GUS Mail Order. Payment date 10 December, not recorded as a late payment until 7 days after payment original due, ie when next statement was due to be printed.

My ex credit card company. Payment date 10th December. Recorded as late as only receved by them on the 11th.

Unfortunately the only real way to know is to wait a month or two and find out what they recorded.

Although as long as most accounts are paid regularly and this is a one off, it wont affect your credit score much after a few months.

I'm guessing if its even a day late it counts as one month...
