well I've just used a tube of gun gum on the pipe and am leaving it to dry to see what success I may or may have. If it fails then off to kwik fit !

Please do not go to Kwik S*it whatever you do! Try and visit a local reputable garage or exhaust specialist!

i remember helping my dad years ago jubille clip a used beer can round a hole in the exhaust and then smothered it with gun gum, it lasted about 2 weeks before it started blowing again.

I've not tried these kits, but had great success with a baked bean tin cut down the side, wrapped round and attached with a couple of jubilee clips. This repair outlasted the car, and got through two MOT's. Only works on straight pipes though.

This is the best bodge. The exhaust wraps always harden and fall off, but nothing will shift jubilee clips and a tin can.

The Astra backbox literally came apart on me...casing split, and the baffles dropped out, then the box fell off the pipe when I tried to shift it. I ended up slicing it off with a cutting disk.

I went to a factors and got a new backbox with hangers for £28, and put it on. Much less hassle than repair kits.

I had an MOT on my last car, and I told the tester it'd fail as it was blowing. I had a new exhaust on order, but it wouldn't arrive until an hor after the MOT. It passed anyway!

When I asked how this had been achieved, the guy said "hole? what hole? OH! THIS hole? Tut. Must have had my hand over it, dear me.."

    Priceless..
