Seeking advice for a stopover in Shanghai

Hi all,

We are travelling to Sydney on China Eastern for two weeks in April, (2 adults,2 kids, 13 & 10). On the return leg we have an overnight stop in Shanghai. Can anybody give us any hints and tips on what we could get up to? I think we arrive mid afternoon and fly out the following lunchtime.

The sort of advice we need is along the lines of currency. etc. Do we need to get hold of any local currency, or is US dollars preferred?

We have no idea of where were staying, or how far out of Shanghai we are. Chances are we're staying in Pu Dong. I would imagine we'll have to find somewhere to eat that evening. Are there any recommended sites to visit in Pu Dong?

Any contibutions welcome, even your horror storys about China Eastern!!!
