Its difficult to say really without knowing what stuff they want to do to the car. If you can ring them up and provide us with some details it might help to determine whether the price is good or not.

Otherwise, why not get a few quotes from other Volvo dealers for the same service and see if they are similar in price.

I thought of that - sent an email to the two nearest vovlo dealerships to see what they quote. Just waiting to hear

You don't have to use a volvo dealer to have your car serviced., as long as the garage you choose uses genuine volvo parts your warranty is not affected. Worth shopping around in my view.

I was going to mention that but as the OP mentions that the car is still within the warranty period, I assumed that it was nearly new. In which case, to protect residuals on a nearly new car its best to service the car initially at the dealer if you plan on selling it anytime soon.

Otherwise if you are going to drive till its a old banger, than yes it makes sense to service it an independant.

  • I had been looking at a Volvo V50 2-0 D powershift and asked about service prices they said the 3rd service would be £375 ( the service intervals were 12500 miles)

    Hope it helps
  • have you tried posting on

they will have prior experience and also what is changed, possibly no more than oil & filter change and kick a few tyres and receptionist presents a large bill.

Ring the other dealers and ask them how much the service will be as this puts them on the spot and then you can play them all off against each other.
I did this with my hyundia using four dealers two priced matched one wouldnt play ball and stuck with the £430 price ( bloody closest to us too) and the final one quoted £340.
This was for the four year service 40K

It is worth checking prices across a few dealers - but (and I had 3 new Volvo's before my present Honda) Volvo servicing is expensive I am afraid. Volvo consider (and so do I) themselves a 'premium' brand so charge that sort of level of prices. However I did always find the service superb with nice courtesy cars, a full inside and out clean and wax and importantly real expert technicians who meticulously carried out the check lists etc. I get nearly as good service from Honda but to be honest it cost nearly the same too.
