Price for tiling natural stone tiles.

I am interested in purchasing Travertine for my bathroom floor & walls and Granite for the kitchen, utility room and downstairs toilet floor area. Can you give me an idea of what a good tiler will charge - is it quoted on a daily rate or per m2? I am able to buy the necessary adhesive, sealant etc on trade so the tiler doesn't need to quote for materials.
Thanks.

Edinburgh rates for natural stones would be £40 per sq metre

This is based on you supplying tiles only, installer supplies mats, adhesives, primer and sealant

I would never let the customer supply the grouts and adhesives and from experience there either get the wrong products or get the cheapest!Afterall its the installer that gives any warranty against failure

  • Thanks. That makes good sense about the tiler providing the grout etc!

I bought Travertine from an ebay retailer, then got the correct sealants, adhesives and grouts etc (Granfix stuff). (There is a lot of mis information out there such as using pva etc)

I then got a tiler from ratedtrades by advertising the job with pictures etc, the guy I used was excellent, superb attention to detail and put me to shame, he did allow me to work with him mixing, cutting, fixing etc to keep the job quick and we had a daily rate of £150 which I thought was fair. I cant think what the sq m of bathroom is, 2 8ft walls and 2 5ft walls, both 8ft high, and then tiled around the bath too. It took 2 days of us together and then 1 day of him alone to finish off.

Middleton, Manchester based if you want his details.
