For Blackpool Lyngarth Hotel Winners

Today I had a call from the Trading Standards Officer in Blackpool who has been and checked out the hotel and spoken to the owner.

Current state of play is that the building is in serious need of renovation.. They are currently negotiating the lease and hope to acquire possession in May when they will begin work. The Trading Standards Officer expressed concern that the pictures on their website were clearly not pictures of the hotel and reasurance was given that the website would be altered accordingly.

The competition does seem to be a genuine marketing strategy but the officer told him that should plans with the hotel not work out in some way he must contact all the winners and tell them.

For those winners who hope to take up their prize sooner rather than later it might be advisable to get in touch with the owner nearer the time to see how work has progressed.

Hopefully this helps everybody and perhaps the first to go could post their experience for the benefit of other winners.

gosh they're cutting it fine then. Presumably they will be going all out to get it ready in time for the summer though, even without competition winners lined up. I suppose the idea is to get as many people through the doors as possible the minute it opens, especially in the credit crunch. Thanks for checking it out for everyone. I hope people do get to have a great stay in a brand new hotel.

I am a winner of this competition and am so grateful to you for posting this. I felt a bit suspicious about this, but thought of going in October if they do family rooms. Will wait before booking but they did say that they weren't taking bookings until August so could well be genuine.

Hi, I am a May "winner" of this comp ! Has anyone got any updates on the hotel ? If you ask me there are going to be not enough rooms for all the "winners"

I've just received a email informing me that I have also won this, does anyone know if we have to book soon? As I'd like to see how the hotel is before staying

I've had an e-mail today as well to say that I've won. I'm going to e-mail to confirm I have received their e-mail and will contact them nearer August to give three dates when I would like to stay.

Heck, yesterdayschild, the whole of Blackpool is "a bit rough"! Judging by its location, I would say it wasn't in the poshest of places...

(I'd send mr kateab round but he doesn't go up that way now he works down South Shore).
