So educate me. What will the tories do for me?

From what I can tell from posts here anyone with a mortgage will get royally !!!!ed over if the tories come in.

Don't worry, they won't. Some like to believe that under a Tory government interest rates will go up to 15% forcing homeowners into bankruptcy (like they did in the early 90s under the Tories). What they do not consider is today's situation is a completely different beast, infact the Tories are in support of the current low interest rates.

Before people jump all over me - Interest rates will rise, but not while still in recession.

The real problem right now is that we are in deep doo dah right now.

We are told that we can vote out politicians if we don't like them. So let's have a general election then ... oh we can't until Gordon choses to and he is only forced to a year from now.
  • I agree with Dan here. People seem to think that the tories put up interest rates to annoy everyone with a mortgage while keeping savers happy. It was simply to curb inflation.

The tories have said that they support the current low interest rates. If inflation is high as we start to come out of recession then whoever is in power will need to raise interest rates. Inflation will really have to shoot up to go from 0.5% to 15% interest rates.

I hate em too , especially when they cloned themselves and were renamed as nulabour.

To misquote a famous philospher "workers party my @rse".

Should mse be about in 10 years , then it will be remembering these days as the good ones as t'tories will do what they do best make the rich richer.Any party based ogvernment structure will always be the same , we should be voting in people to work for us not just their party.

Seeing the predictive warnings in Wells' time machine is as good as seeing them in the bible fro the religious christian. We are the eloi , the developing nations that do our cheap manufacturing or import our energy are the morlock , eventually we will do nothing but be the meat for their plate....perhaps its the same in uk politics and the voters become the eloi and the govt the morlock.

Vote whatever you want it never makes any difference.Peel back the label and it still a self/party interest politician in a jar made from 100 percent freshly squeezed old school ties and fresh BS.IMO the old adage is very true that those that want power should never actually have it....being a politician should be like jury duty or national service ie something you have to do but not want to.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Boris Johnson tried to storm out of a meeting yesterday after clashing with MPs - but was ordered to sit down.
The London mayor lost his cool when he was asked why February's snow was allowed to cripple the capital.
With breathtaking rudeness, he stood up and declared: "I'm off."
But the Transport select committee boss told Mr Johnson to stay in his seat and answer the questions.
Warning Mr Johnson his behaviour was unacceptable, chairwoman Louise Ellman said: "Our capital was shut down in a way not seen in any other city. It appears you didn't act in accordance with your responsibilities as mayor."
He had been summoned before the committee to explain why transport in London ground to a halt during the heavy snow.
Buses, which ran through the Blitz, were all cancelled and many Tubes stopped running. The MPs insisted more should have been done.
But Mr Johnson, who has left a trail of gaffes and broken promises since he was elected last May, blasted: "This is pathetic. You are trying to put the blame on a Tory mayor.

"It is not within my competence to stop the biggest downfall of snow we have had in this city for 20 years."
Ms Ellman said she had never seen behaviour like it.
Committee member Graham Stringer MP added: "He tried to bluster his way through and didn't even attempt to answer most questions.
It was a piece of extraordinary arrogance." It is the second time Mr Johnson has put in a shambolic performance in front of a select committee. In February, he changed his story at a hearing about the arrest of MP Damian Green.

Replace making the rich richer with "making those that want to work richer" for the tories

and for labour you could say, "making the lazy richer"

    then i will agree.
