Yes, ASDA reps on 2nd call not brilliant as well. Didn't even get to a supervisor.

So, got a quote from a broker, Ellis David Ltd , for buildings including Accidental Cover at
£197.27 (including £20 arrangement fee), through Norwich Union. I think in the morning I'll go with this as I'm not sure if I'm even covered right now while I'm waiting for completion.

As far as contents, I'm thinking I'll deal with this 2 weeks before I move in. Being a musician I may join the Musicians Union for their free insurance

If you are on the brink of exchanging contracts a broker can be the best bet as your solicitor will normally want confirmation you are covered faxed to them when they exchange and its normally easier to get a broker to do this for you.

Norwich Union are a good company, they have their hiccups sometimes but their cover is good and any problems can normally be ironed out quite easily by your broker as they have the right contacts.

A home insurance policy will normally exclude any music instruments you use professionally although NU are one of the companies that can offer cover for them. However its normally better and cheaper to use a specialist company, try Music Guard as they offer a good policy at a good price
