Making a slanket - Has anyone tried it?

  • Went to buy the fleece today. Measured up, and all those cheap fleeces are too small. I need two to make the right sized slanket.

Thought fine - i got the fleeces for £3 each (no primark or Ikea nearby).

I then was looking in Ethel Austin, and guess what...they had slankets for £6. Arrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Oh well, I'll have the fun of making one I suppose!

Some of the cheap ones are quite short so if you are tall it wont really cover your feet cosily. My daughter wants one as shes only 5' 1" but wants a button on the back so when she goes to the ktchen shes actually wearing it and stays warm

  • I've finished mine! It took about 40 mins, and most of that was faffing about with the bobbin on my sewing machine. I am in love with it already!

Ok, so no cheaper than buying one (well, the cheap £6 one, anyway), but I love it a million times more knowing I made it myself.

Very easy to make, and cos the fleece doesn't fray or anything, its a very simple job - not even any fancy edging or finishing off.

    Highly reccommended! x

so does a slanket not have a back? I always figured they were a kind of tunic thing rather thn a back to front dressing gown...no good for me as i feel draughts up my back more than anywhere else

Dh and I saw a double slanket last night!

Could you not cut a hole for your head in the middle of a blanket, poncho style? You could even add sleeves if you want & ties at the sides ....
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know
