Making a slanket - Has anyone tried it?

Dh bought me a slanket ( fleece blanket with arms in it:rotfl:) as an early birthday gift as I suffer from RA and am always frezzing. There is not a lot to it and I thought about making some for gifts ( for children)

Has anyone made one - It does look very straight forward but not sure if cost effective or not - Not sure the price of fleece these days.

Thanks for any help

Had never heard of these till now, but a good idea, am tempted to make one for my mum. Just googled for patterns and came up with this . Seems quite easy.
  • Quite shocked at the price of these things so thought I would have a nosey round the net to see if I could find a pattern...and I did!

I have quite a few fleeces from IKEA that I was going to use to make scarves, throws last year but didn't get round to it so this is my next project.

  • Have raked under my bed and found my fleecys - should be enough to make one (although a bit patchworky!!) Will post a picture when finished.......hope it works out as they would make lovely xmas presents

  • Fantastic! THanks for posting this. Going to try and make one tomorrow! I love being cosy under a blanket, but having arms in it would make it so much better!

If it's for a Christmas present, then go for it. I remember last year I commented on my blog that buying a slanket for myself was one of my best buys for the whole year and I was feeling rather proud of myself till Ceridwen came along and suggested I could've just worn a dressing gown backwards!:rotfl::p

    Remember that Ceridwen! :D

LOL I picked up a cheap Snuggie from the market last week. I offered to buy the OH one but he insisted he didn't want one. I made him a cuppa after telling him how snug it was, came back upstairs and there he was, proud as punch, with his dressing gown on back to front laughing at me. Bless, he's turning proper OS.

That looks a great pattern thanks.
Was looking at them for sale on QVC last night - they now have a pocket on the front (easy to add) and a sort of pocket at the bottom you can slide your feet into.
