The issue often then translates to "well you can do it because...." and in their mind they seem to find all sorts of reasons why they couldn't do likewise. Afterall, they aren't as "lucky" as we are to be able to do the OP etc seems to sum up their justification for not changing their lifestyle to achieve it.

I've commented to colleagues on the benefits and saving 10yrs on the mortgage is our hope come October, but, others in the pub have been more negative so I don't raise it there at all. It seems less contentious to discuss the international markets and movements in rates than to comment on mortgages sometimes.
