    Welcome to the board,

I am the same as you, I didn't have financially savvy parents. When I first read you could over pay a mortgage I thought I had read it wrong. BUT I have also started my MF journey recently and I am so excited about it :o and it is all is thanks to this forum.:T

I agree with what other have said its never too late. I am now trying to get my mum and dad sorted with their money and they think its all very alien. I will get there, if i keep plugging away at them.

    Good Luck
You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?
  • Hi there skcollobcat10

Its great that you've realised that you can overpay, at least now you are doing something about reducing your mortgage. Its amazing how many people know they can overpay but can't be bothered to do it.

Good luck with your goal of being mortgage free in seven years or sooner ??

Make sure you keep the figures you have quoted - as you move on it's good to look back and measure progress

Did you ever think when you started your mortgage free journey that when you spoke about it to friends and family they thought you were just being a money pinching tight fisted git? Not that I am, I am very generous with money but I have got so excited and goal driven that they see it as an obsession! I get the feeling that some people think that that is all I think about "Money"!

However, you will become obsessed here :rotfl:
I want to thank StuartGMC for the brillant wonderful spreadsheet that he e mailed me the other week. Now thats an obsession!! ha,ha!:rotfl:but a good one!
You're most welcome, it gives me pleasure to know others are getting benefit from the spreadsheet too, and yes, this will also "pre-occupy" you too, but then, you knew that didn't you? :D

I look forward to seeing things develop in this diary and to you clearing the mortgage by the time you are 58.

    100% with you here!!

What I don't get, is when you sit down with someone, explain what can be done and how much they could save. They look at you in amazement.....................then they don't do anything
