I'm going to visit these people - based in Northumberland. They do a wedding package for £400 (roses only I'm afraid - but have a look HERE as they look fab!)
They might be able to advise further? I'm only after a bouquet, bridesmaid posy and 5 buttonholes, so hopefully a lot cheaper....will keep you posted!

I am looking towards lillies however i am concerned that if any pollen is knocked off it will stain clothing.

I will definitely do some more research and hunt around a few more florists.

If you go for lillies, any decent florist should have cut the stamens out so pollen shouldn't be a problem.

Look here for info on what is in season: http://www.flowers.org.uk/flowers/seasonal/seasonal-index.htm

Try talking to local garden centers about what is in season and readily available. They tend to be so much more helpful than florists after a quick buck!

These are some of the sites I've been looking at for artificial flowers:

    Sarah's Flowers
    Wooden Roses
    Flowers By Sara
Finlows Wedding Flowers ( I LOVE the Crystal ones, though not very MSE!!!!)

Just thought I'd re-iterrate what Nats said. I have gone for artificial flowers using Flowers by Sara. I really didnt want anything that looked fake but really liked the idea of having a keepsake. I ordered a bridesmaid posy to see what they were like and it was amazing, you cannot tell it is false at all. Has ivory roses and pink orchids in, would have cost a fortune from the florists. Overall on the personal flowers and pew ends alone I will save over £150 quid and will have some nice arrangement for my house!

    Hope you get it sorted!

Having trawled through sites for ideas think i am now settling on a hand tied bouquet of red gerberas, white lisianthus and mixed foliage.

Bridesmaids will have a single red rose with hypericum and mixed foliage tied into a hand held arrangement.

Table centre pieces will be a mix of aspidistra leaves as a backing, red anthurium and hypericums with leafy foliage.

Still thinking for buttonholes and coursages so all flowers and colours compliment each other.

Many thanks to all of you for input it is much appreciated.

You could mix red gerberas with bear grass and ruscus leaves.

See if you can borrow a book from the library called Wedding Bouquets in Association with Wedding Flowers Magazine - this book is lovely and shows all types of bouquets with all types of lowers, the meanings of the flowers, the type of dress they go with etc. etc. There are 300 photographs of various bouquets all split into colours.

I hope you have a lovely day.

I would second the suggestion about the wedding flowers book, I bought it for my wedding and it is stunning! Another good read is "wedding flowers" magazine, they normally have a bit in each issue about what is in season and also the meaning of the flowers. It is a really good magazine that is packed with tips and time guidelines and loads of photos including real wedding photos of readers.A wedding magazine that I think is worth every penny.
The only thing I would say is red and white together is seen as bad luck if you are supersticious as it's seen as representing blood and bandages!
Gerberas will be quite hard to use for a lot of types of bouquet such as hand ties because of their flat shape. I would say though that the majority of flowers are available all year and don't really attract a premium price. You only really pay a premium around times like Mothers day, valentines etc. Most flowers that you would typically use in a bouquet stay fairly static in price throughout the year.
A fabulous little book that could provide inspiration for table centre pieces is a bbc book called "101 ways with flowers", they have loads of really simple ideas that look amazing that you could easily do yourself and it not cost a fortune.

Wedding Bouquets in Association with Wedding Flowers Magazine

Do you know which year this was published? I have rang local library this morning and they only carry books from 2006 onwards. The lady i spoke to also said they do not carry many wedding flowers books either.

I tried the magazine for weding flowers but they are only showing this seasons flowers so it may be a little early to search for what i will need in regards to magazine ideas.

Thanks for all the input it is appreciated.
