Sending payment to China

Options
im looking into buyin an item for china but am unsure how to pay. i want to stay within the guidelines set out by ebay so that if the deal falls through i am covered by at least standard protection which will do because i should be paying more than £50. The seller has suggested these payment methods
1. Western Union money transfer
2. MoneyGram
3. Bank Deposit
4. Mail cash
5. personal check
6. money order
7. moneybooker
they said they cannot take paypal or credit card payments
which is the best way to pay, i also dont want to be paying a fortune to send money, any ideas?

thanks all

Ebay will not cover you for Western Union, posting cash or a moneygram, the seller cannot pay a UK cheque into a Chinese bank account nor cash a UK postal order. To do a Bank deposit into a Chinese bank will, I suspect, cost you mega.

All seems a bit strange to me - personally, i'd steer clear. What's his feedback like and is there any from the UK? Have a look at those auctions, if there is, to see what payment methods were accepted.

I quite often buy things from Chinese sellers but ONLY if they have good feedback and accept Paypal. I'd steer clear of anybody else as there's no comeback if it all goes wrong.
    Can I help?

Yeah I wouldn't get involved with them either.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • to be fair the feedback is currently 0, a new user, however i have been in contact alot with the seller and they appear to check out, they currently have a few auctions on ebay, so i might just wait to see if thoses sales go through ok first. it costs £12 for a bank transfer to china, am i covered by ebay if i do this, is there a list of payment methods i am covered by?

I echo the other posts and suggest you steer clear. 0 feedback, no paypal and offering payment methods specifically banned by ebay.

As for sounding legit, th emark of a good scammer , as opposed to the 419 amateurs, is how plausible they sound and how quickly they get you to trust them.

If you send any money to them and things go wrong your only comeback is via the ebay claims syestem which will cost you £15 and has no guarantee of retrieving your money.

A lot of the payment methods are also excluded from ebay protection as well:
