Checking File System on C: everytime I startup

Only quite recently everytime I boot up my PC , I get this 'Checking File System on C:'
which last for approx 10 -20 mins before I can start logging in. Although I can cancel it within 10 seconds from startup by pressing any key, this never used to happen before. Does anyone know why is this happening and is there way to solve this problem?

try checking under start-all programs-acessories-system tools-scheduled tasks....make sure chkdsk isn't scheduled to run at every start-up...

It could have started if a check was made and there was a problem with the hard disk. Check above post for any scheduled tasks

It could be a corruption in Windows but that is unlikely. It is more often a sign of a damaged hard drive, make sure that you back-up all important files NOW just in case.
