silent keyboard and mouse?

HI all,

I type quite alot and I seem to be disturbing people with my tapping as my keyboard is quite loud. Does anyone know of a good silent type keyboard and mouse that I can silently tap to?

Can you not move the PC at all away from who you believe you may be disturbing? Have you asked them if it's a problem? You may be being too polite and they may not have noticed the tapping.

Decent keyboards generally require a solid movement of the key although some have more travel on than others e.g. laptop keyboards are a bit lighter and a little quieter possibly. You may be best trying some in a shop and see if you can find one you like.

You can get keyboards made out of a sort of rubbery plastic which might be quieter but they are not particularly nice to type on for extended periods.

You could try putting something under the keyboard to limit the sound transmission through the desk e.g. a towel or something like that which might help a little possibly.

pop into PCworld and try them all out...I even got the staff to open boxes!
I settled on a microsoft media pro..not silent...but a bit quieter than most, and I like the action
...and I didn't buy mine from there
