Close Bros 4.3%

Options
Has anyone who's applied for this, actually had their cheque paid in? At the moment, the money's been sitting in my current account for about 10 days, waiting for Close to open the envelope I sent them!

Very tedious! (I could have earnt ooh, at least £2.50 on it if I'd left it in my savings account.)

  • As I had no responses, I've drawn the following conclusions

    1. It was a very boring dumb post - probably!
    2. Nobody else has applied for a Close 4.3% fixed
    3. Or if they have, their cheques have been withdrawn from their current acs quickly
    4. Or they don't mind that they haven't
    5. Or they found another way of adding funds. It says you can do it online, but my current ac won't let transfers of more than £10k per day, and Close won't accept multiple payments.

Anybody? I can wait all day.

    I'll get me coat...

I applied for the two year bond about two months ago with Close Bros and it took 2/3 weeks for my cheque to be cleared so it was sitting in my current account. They said at the time they had been inundated. I think they hadn't expected such a rush but it was really frustating as they couldn't tell me whether they had received my application or not. Put me off applying this time.

from memory Close were running several adverts such as in the sunday times on this product. I wouldn't be surprised if a smallish institution like them have been overwhelmed.

I applied using cheque and trackable post. They received it on Monday 6th April. When I phoned them, they said that first thing, they normally present the cheque for clearance within 24 hours of receipt of application. So I'll keep you posted when cheque actually clears. :)

PS Cheque cleared today, 9th April :)
  • They'd have got mine a week before that, dammit!
  • Have they cashed it yet onawingandaprayer?

I sent in my application last week but don't know if it got there before the closing date (Wed) - waiting to hear from them. It did say on the application that it could take up to 10 days to process.

  • Yes! Cheque cashed about 10 days after they received it. Nothing received at all in writing. Assume all ok, unless it's gone on 4.30 at Wincanton.
  • After I spoke to you, the money went from my account. Nothing from them so I sent an email Friday 17th. Monday morning 20th @ 0845 they phoned, thanked me for the cheque and said my details were in the post. It all arrived today, with full details of my account. So there is life in London!:j
