Be a 2 minute hero

My apologies if this is felt an inappropriate post...it's something I am passionate about.

Tuesday April 7th is our 1st UK Donor Day

The theme is "To be a 2 minute Hero"

Put the kettle on and by the time it's boiled you can have signed up to the NHS Organ Donor Register!

I'd just like to share this http://www.ethanproject.org.uk/ this beautiful little lad only a year old was given his GIFT OF LIFE just a few days ago
Sadly children need life saving transplant too, often they don't always receive them..there is currently a shortage of organ donors here in the UK.
Children can sign the organ donor register too with parental consent.
This amazing young boy sadly became a HERO http://www.calvinleary.net/ just last year.

Our son's life was saved when he was just 3yrs old by a boy whom we'll never meet and never be able to thank..his 10yr old donor.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting..."holy !!!!..what a ride!"

Thanks everyone:T..vikki I got a lovely card and message from the Anthony Nolan Trust a few years back..I'd been on the register for 20yrs..some people believe because the age limit to register is 40 that they wont be of any use as a donor anymore..not so..provided you are registered with them before you are 40 you'll remain registered till you're 60...so register as a potential bone marrow donor afore you're 40..I have been called once to give exta blood samples..but not been a candidate to donate...as yet.

    WOOHOO!
Just wanted to let you know the number of people who signed up to the organ donor register on Tuesday(Donor Day) was 15 times it's average daily numbers 3,222 people signed up online alone..so thanks guys!

note: don't quite know why this post has been shifted to "charities" section organ, blood and tissue donation has absolutely no association with charity albeit The Anthony Nolan Trust who do the bone marrow registed are.

A lot of people think that just carrying the card is enough, it's not. You need to register your intentions and you can do this on the website.

As for the driving licence, I think you still have to register, and all the licence does is let your family know of your intentions (IFSWIM)
