Ikea Beds 20% off

Hi all

Went to my local Ikea last night and they're currently doing 20% off all beds.

One question for everyone tho. I'd like a King Size bed and Ikea state their size as 160cm x 200cm. I notice in Argos that a standard size for a king size bed is 150cm x 200cm. Would standard king size fitted sheets fit? Sorry if its a daft question but I'm a bloke and these things don't come naturally!!!

Thanks

No they won't they will pull your mattress up at the edges. Its not difficult to get sheets that fit, you just have to remember what size you need.

I would imagine that standard King Size fitted sheets would be find: when we bought our new mattress, it was much deeper than our old one (about three times thicker) and I was worried whether our existing fitted sheets would stretch to cover the extra space. They did so without any problems, but someone mentioned to me a while ago that John Lewis do extra-size fitted sheets for slightly wider or deeper mattresses.

Ikea's beds are made to Scandinavian standards rather than UK sizes (they are bigger), so you will need to go back to buy all your bedding from Ikea in the future - no great hardship really, as they do quite a good range! Their beds are longer than UK standards, which is useful if you are tall.

Ikea in the UK has come round a little to the British way of doing things. Does anyone remember the standard square continental pillows and the 1 and 1/2 bed (in between single size and double) that they used to do :rotfl:?

Does the 20% deal also include mattress pads? I would like a new one for our existing IKEA bed.

b.t.w. Did you know that 1 in 10 Europeans was conceived in an IKEA bed?

This is from their website.. seems to be running from August 2005
    20% off all bedframes

This offer applies exclusively to bedframe purchases made in person, at any UK IKEA store, and paid for in full at the time. The 20% reduction of price is inclusive in the price shown on this website.

The bedframes offer also applies to cot frames, but excludes sofa beds, sofa chairs, futons, and all mattress purchases. It may not be used in conjunction with any other promotional offer, and is valid only from 8th August 2005 to 9th July 2006 inclusive. IKEA reserve the right to withdraw, amend or decline this offer without prior notice.

...used warrington and leeds and not really had any issues, recently bought a kitchen (£1500+ of units and dishwasher) - everything was ok, have even been able to get a full set of replacements fittings for a bolt-together kids bed for free and got them to come back for a faulty king size bed same day (took a bit of arguing but not that much)
