Folks,
After going cold turkey for a week I'm now using Opera instead if Firefox. Taken me some time to get used to but I'm now starting to enjoy.
One problem that is annoying, when I open a new opera windows it 9-out of-10 times starts up with about:blank page even though its set in options to start @ google.co.uk...
Any ideas?

Shouldnt there be one for startup? Can someone look at opera6.ini if u use it?0 -
I found a few flakey bits in 8.52 (I'm running the 9 beta) but never encountered that.
I take it you've set the options in ctrl-f12 to "always open on home page" and then set the home page to google. They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -
Yeh, done that. I will try opera9. Do you have a link?0
-
Just double click and the about:blank page will go to your homepage.
If you haven't got any tabs open, double click (to open a tab) then double click again (to go to the homepage). Get used to the mouse shortcuts/gestures and you'll be browsing quickly with minimal movements. In fact the only time I really have to move the mouse more than a few millimetres is when I want to select a link.
Right click and move the mouse down briefly to open a new tab. There's a link (will need to find it) on the Opera site detailing all the common mouse gestures.
v8.52 has been fine for me, not had an problems yet. Can't wait for v9."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I think I need to try install it again then, double clicking for me does sweet FA.
Infact, I've never had a tab open with this.........and as hard as I'm trying I still can't open a new tab.0 -
Make sure you are double clicking in the empty tab.
You may not have gestures enabled.
Go to Tools > Preferences > then the Advanced tab > then Shortcuts, make sure it is ticked. The first time you do a mouse gesture it should ask you if you want to turn it on though.
Can use middle clicking a link to open in a new page (rather than having to right click)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Ere Wolfman
Can OE be opened Via Opera as I can Compose with OE via Opera.
But Opening OE is a no no.0 -
I'm not really an OE user so don't really know how it works with Opera. I used to use Thunderbird, but have now switched completely to webmail (gmail). I guess if I was going to use a pop client I'd try the one built into Opera. Just means everything is under one roof so to speak. And nice and light too."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
