help for cost of running power tools

I need some advice,I have searched the internet but found nothing so I hope someone her can help. I have workmen in doing some renovations and I am quite worried about getting my next electric bill, after the workmen using all their power tools. They have even been using a kango/cango to rip holes in the walls for re-wiring.They also use an electric cement mixer nearly every day. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have you read your meter? Don't mean to be patronising, but if you know how many kwh you use on average in 24 hours or a week, you can work out how much more a week of building will cost.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. Its probably not a significant amount.

Agreed, overall for 2 3 month bill, it's probably insignificant.

The kango hammer may be about 1kW, but it probably won't be used for very long - at least not continuously (although it may seem like it with the noise it produces!)

The cement mixer could be the bigger culprit. It will probably only have a 300-500W motor, but I've seem some builders just run these continuously especially when they are not paying for the juice.

But even if it has the bigger sized motor & they do run it for the entire typical 8 hour day, that only means about 4kWh per day (about 50p) and it won't be forever.
Probably small beer compared to the cost of the renovations themselves.
