Hanging tiles or uPVC weatherboarding?

We have a semi detached house with weatherboarding at the back of the house. It now needs replacing and I am wondering whether it would be cheaper to have uPVC replacement or hanging tiles. I quite like the idea of going back to hanging tiles as I think there would be too much "plastic" at the back but with present financial restraints, I would like to know which would be the cheaper option.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that. I have a feeling it too will be cheaper so I will start looking around for some reputable companies.0
