Can you recycle them? Do any charities want them?
I've got a 3-yr old 19" screen - just replacing with flat screens.
It works perfectly (though weighs a ton!) and it would be a shame just to take to the council dump.
Any suggestions welcomed.0 -
You could put them on your local freecycle group, I'm sure someone will want them esp in good condition. Much greener than chucking. :xmastree:

a charity i work with doesn't usually take the chunky CRTs but if they have space they will take them and pass them onto Computer for Africa who are more than happy to take them. Might be worth seeing if computers for africa have an office/contact in your area0

My CRT monitor died last weekend. I'd had it almost 7 years.
Having replaced it with a TFT monitor I was wondering what was the best way to dispose of my old monitor. It weighs a ton and I don't drive. Can I put it out with the normal household rubbish? I should add that I live in a block of flats so our rubbish goes in a large metal container.

Take it to your local Rubbish Dump they have a special area for Monitors and TVs0

The dump's the best place but as OP doesn't drive she may have probs getting it there.

Just wondering whether the local council might take it away for you, poorbabe. Some take away bulky rubbish for free. Have you phoned them?0 -
Put it outside your front door...it will probably be *walked off* with in a very short time

Argh if you can get to a dump you have to throw it as high and far as you can then watch it bounce about. Great fun, wish I had more dead CRT's."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

You can certainly try, but they might not take it. I'm not sure how that'll work if they leave it, as no one will know whos it is, well nearly no one....0
