Car Insurance Help Please

I tried to search but the forums aren't working correctly.

Trying to find out the cheapest way to insure two cars and of course, ensuring it's all legal.

Three drivers:
Me - 21, 4 yrs NCD, one no fault no claim (2007)
Dad - licence since 1979 - claims his NCD on his work's van
Mum - licence since 1978 - has 6 years NCD

Two cars:
OC - 1998 Clio, value £2k
BC - 2001 Clio, value £1900

Mum and I will both share the two cars. Dad is an occasional user of either/both (whichever is cheaper).

Admiral multi-car says... £523.60 now and then £179.83 in October (when OC insurance is due). Total - £703.43

This seems quite high, I have a separate quote for BC of £290 but I have no idea what the OC will be come renewal.
Is it high because of my age and no-claim claim? Should I just drive one car?

Any help appreciated

Usually only the owner or spouse can insure a car.

So if your Mum owns both, she should use her NCD against the most expensive premium, and add both men as named drivers (for whichever car(s) you drive). If you mean your Dad drives a company van, then he may be able to get some discount via a broker in respect of his years without incident driving the van, in which case he should insure one of the cars, and name the drivers needed.

You only insured for one car will be cheaper than having you on both.

It's a work van but he's self employed so the insurance is held in his name.

I own the OC, BC is being bought today so we can put it in whichever name is best.

I'm female too by the way.

    Thanks

OK, then your Dad's NCD is no use. He could contact a broker and see if he can get an introductory discount as a result of his incident free record. Then name whichever of the ladies are going to drive the car.

If you are to be the main driver of either car, then you need to make sure the insurer is aware of that.

multi car policies arent always the cheapest way to go, the priority should be the two drivers that have ncd using and building it up.

i dont know how the insurance on your dad's van would work, he may be classed as covered third party on any car with owners permission on any car, it depends if he is self employed or not.

as for the two cars one should be in your name as you have ncd you can use and maintain, putting an older driver on your policy may reduce your premium, my dad was on my policy when i got this car for about 3 years.
you may have to be named on the second one or might not have to be depending on the first policy
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)
