Icesave / Kaupthing - how do I get my tax certificates?

Hi, apologies if this has already been posted/asked/answered, I did a quick look bu couldn't see anything.

I'm trying to get everything together to complete my tax return (I like to get it done ASAP).

I need to get tax certificates for the accounts I had with both Icesave and Kaupthing, but I'm not sure where I can get them now that the two institutions no longer exist.

Any ideas please?

Thanks for reading.

If you closed the KE account, you should have been sent a final statement with details.

Before then you could print off a statement from on-line with the details.

Icesave, before you elected to close the account and receive compensation, you needed to print out a full statement, tax details were listed on this, for any one with fixed rates to mature later, there will be tax to pay when they went bust (again print out the on-line statement), and then the remainder of the tax on maturity, which will be detailed in paperwork no doubt.

Don't think there is any chance now of getting proper tax certificates. Back in October when the banks collapsed I made sure that I printed out records back to 6th April 2008 as I realised this could be an issue in the future. Just started on my tax return also and believe these printouts will suffice if the tax office ever need proof.
Doesn't help you I realise but cannot see any solution.

I've just got out the paperwork from the FSCS, and you are right, it shows me what interest and what tax was paid. Thanks for that.

I was going to start a thread about this very thing this morning & then phoned ING Re. Kaupthing tax certificates. They said tax certificates will be sent out for ex KE account holders for the previous tax year by the end of this month, April.

    Icesave, I don't know.

I had two fixed term accounts and a savings account with Kaupthing. All three received interest after the ING Direct take-over.

ING paid interest and deducted tax. I don't see why they should not be able to produce a tax certificate.

I requested tax certificates from ING last month but have not had a reply yet.

FSCS said, with regard to an IceSave a/c, that there would be no tax certificates but that 'HMRC knew about it, so would accept estimated figures'.
