When should I book a flight to malaga?

We're planning a self catering holiday in Malaga for a fortnight in July/August this year. Flying out on the first Saturday of the school holidays. Is it best to take the cheapest flight I can find now, or are prices likely to fall nearer the date?

You will not get a cheap flight in the school holidays let alone a Saturday.
There`s no way it will go down nearer the time so have a look now but it won`t be cheap.0 -
Going towards the end of august can be cheaper and a hell of a lot less busy too.0

the best time to book any flight is when the airlines publish their summer flight plans which is normally around october so this is when the flights are releatively cheap but there is always a premium for flights in the school holidays. Rule of thumb is the earlier you book the better the deal and try to fly sunday/monday if possible. As to late bookings the airlines charge more for this not the other way round they would prefer to have empty seats that sell them cheap.0

This bit of info, passed on by an airline employee, I found generally useful.
A fare is initially offered at a set price. Six to eight weeks before the flight, the ticket sales are reviewed. Then reduced if insufficient sold. As more sell at this reduced price the price starts to rise again.
I've also found Skyscanner very useful as it will allow you to look at a months flights and select the lowest priced flight in that month. See here........

Almeria or Gibralter might be cheaper, but demand is high so the only way is up.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
