Help me choose a toaster.

Hi

I am after some help please:D

I need to buy a new toaster, but am unsure which one to buy!! I was looking at a delonghi 4 slice one or a dualit 2 slice one, both of which are around £55...

The main criteria are

reasonably fast toasting
even toasting
fits tall slices in
will last more than a year or two

Budget is anything up to about £60

All recommendations greatly welcomed

Thanks
Mel x

If it were me it would be one under £10 from argos or a supermarket, or then again i would proabably use the grill on the cooker as you get get the toast exactlly as you like it by simply looking!

Dualit - best toasters you can buy! As long it is the British made versions with the replaceable elements then it will be the last toaster you ever buy. I think the British ones start at about £90 but worth every penny.

if i were u, id get a normal 2slice toaster from argos.
they all do the same job. dont waste your money.

if u want it to last 3 years then get the insurance from argos and instead spend your money on something else more practical.

    EDIT:
i just read your signature...lol..... you have 3 kids. Go for the 4 slice toaster otherwise mornings will be hectic if u have to hang around and tell your kids to wait till the first batch of toast are finished so your other kids can have breakfast
    4 slice toaster. any brand. not a 2-sliced...lol ;)

I've had experience of a 4 slice Dualit toaster - what an expensive pile of useless rubbish. I never managed to get a decent piece of toast out of it and it took absolutely ages.

Krups in our house and it has been excellent.

A £5 supermarket brand one almost burnt our office down after it failed to turn off after supposedly popping the toast up.

But it is cheaper at homebase £45ish and at either B+m bargins or instore i seen it for £23

We try a Kenwood one and wouldnt fit hovis bread in it never mind warb's.

I've had much the same experience with a couple of toasters in succession - one of which was an expensive one. I took a 5/10 year hiatus from them before giving in and buying another. Now I just resign myself to buying cheapo ones - same with kettles really. Regardless of price they don't last beyond 3 years or so...but then if they're out on the worktop all the time l like a change.

We have one of the 4-slice Delonghi ones, it's not that great, but I have never come across a decent toaster so it will have to do until someone invents one that actually fits slices of bread and toasts them (there's got go be a fortune in it for anyone who can invent a toaster which is fit for purpose!). The Delonghi prices drop down from time to time at Amazon, can't see any fantastic offers at the moment, but it might be worth keeping an eye on their prices - our 4-slice one was only £25.

I have a Breville TT30 toaster. It has a similar appearance to the Dualit/Delonghi toasters. Most importantly it makes FANTASTIC toast.

Thanks all so much for your replies...

It is ridiculous how hard it is to find a toaster that actually fits a whole slice of bread in it, and actually toasts it all over...

I have had many toasters and the cheaper ones often tend to laser sections of toast, whilst not actually toasting other sections!!!
We also had the delonghi one mentioned above, and although it was not great, it was probably one of the better ones we have owned. (this is one we are considering again actually)

I will have a look at the Breville one, we have just bought a Breville kettle and it is great, so maybe their toaster will be good too!!!

    The hunt continues:)

ETA: I have just looked at the Breville TT30, looks fab, and they do a 4 slice version (TT33) both get rave reviews on amazon too. This could be the one, thank you adsk:D
