wow, if it's just cos its sieved then I'll try the value stuff today, I just couldn't see why it would be soo much more expensive just for the 'label'We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Just need to sieve it in a fine sieve. It's probably just not finely milled like the other more expensive ones and not sifted so all you need is fine sieve and a bag of Value flour.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I use value flour all the time - I sieve all flour before use but haven't noticed any more 'bits' than the expensive brands. I am more than happy with the value brands and don't see the point in paying 50p/pack more for anything else!0

I use value flour always - I never have any 'bits' at the end, and I use a fairly fine plastic seive....
I have to say, there would have to be a lot of bits to be worth almost three times the price.... I can't think two-thirds of the flour is too big for the seive...0 -

The two bags I had with bits in were both bought on the same day so I am prepared to accept it was an unusual batch and I don't recall it happening before on the odd occasion I did sift. There were also a lot of bits, not just a handful and it led me to question the quality of the flour overall.
I think I am persuaded to try another bag and see how I go with that. I had used it for years before this problem so I think it may have been a glitch in their processing.0
