Albufeira Advice Please

Hi all
We're off to Portugal in a couple of weeks and wonder if anyone can give us some ideas of things to do/see, moneysaving tips (particularly concerning food, drink & car hire - though not at the same time, obviously!).
We're going to the Alpinus resort which is between Albufeira and Vilamoura.
It's just the 2 of us so no kids, just us to entertain.
We're in our early 40's, into pubs not nighclubs, cricket & rugby not football, restaurants not karoake (don't get me started).
Any advice would be much appreciated.
