Is main dealer fobbing me off?
Some advice welcome, please. I have a 2005 grand voyager manufactered in america but not imported, rhd. When I bought it last august the guy said he had a problem with the airbag light being on all the time so he'd had it into his main dealer near london, who had repaired a loose wire costing over £200!!!! He gave me the reciept as proof. After a few weeks the light started coming on again. I didn't think too much about it until I was searching for solutions online and saw that there was a recall for this problem. I put in my vin number and it said the recall repair had not been done. I mentioned this to my dealer, who said they can do the repair but not guarantee it will solve the problem. Correct me if I'm wrong but a warning light is a warning light and is there to alert you to a problem. If the airbag warning light is always on how do I know when there IS a problem? Apparently there have been law suits in america where the airbags have failed in the event of a collision. Should I just take the dealers word for it and accept that the light problem is something i should live with (in the event the repair doesn't rectify it)? What do you think?

its also a mot failiure , so yes it needs sorting out
id suggest its at least worth a call to a crysler dealer to ask about the recall id rather them do it than let the back street guy at it0 -
The OP is using a main dealer. It's in his thread title.0

also, a recall has no time limit, so dont let the dealer say its too old (if he does)Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
I think what the dealer is trying to communicate is that there could be a 100 reasons why the airbag light is coming on.
The recall's generally address 1 specific reason. Now this maybe the same thing that is causing the light to come on in your car. But equally it may not.
Hence the statement about not being able to guarantee that the recall will solve the problem. I don't think they ment if the recall doesn't solve it don't worry about it.
But its a process of elimination. As others have mentioned the recall work should be done FOC.
If the problem remains then you should get whatever additional repair is required done asap as it is an obvious safety issue.0 -

I think you already know the answer to your question. Tka it to the main dealer and get it sorted under the recall.l0 -
