Hi all,

Got a quote from local kitchen fitter (NW London/Herts) to rip out and dispose of old kitchen and fit new units and cooker (all supplied by me).

Units are: 4 base units, including built-in oven, gas hob and sink , and 5 wall cabinets. Also relocate and add switches and sockets, and some plumbing.

Two worktops (laminate).

£1,000.

Reasonable? High?

Cheers.
DS

It doesn't sound too bad to me for what's involved, especially for London.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

It seems a little high to me, but not excessively. The price doesn't seem to be dependent on numbers of units installed. He seems happy to add further units for no extra cost, so I think he is quoing for the job of installing whatever I've got (wish I had enough room for more units :D).

One of the units will need to be altered to cover some boxed in pipework, but I don't know how much that complicates things for him.

I paid £650 fitting for (all ikea) 7 base units, 8 wall units and 2 floor to ceiling units with wooden worktops, built in oven, gas hob, sink, plumbing work and tiling. I think I had a really good deal though and I ripped the old stuff out and got rid of it so I didn't have to pay him to do the prep. The electrics and gas fitting were all seperate on top done by other tradesmen as the fitter wasn't qualified.
