Switch or not ? Eon To Scottish Power
Options
I am on price protection 17 with EON. My current annual bill comes to £700. I have gone through various switching sites and they all suggest to switch to Scottish Power with a saving of 130. The Scottish Power tarriff caps my bill till Jan 2010 wheras EON tarriff ends this October.
I want to cap my tariffs for a year or so esp for winters.
I am unsure whether to switch or not ?
Whether capping and switching (to Scottish Power) is good idea ?

Hi duke...you want to stick to one comparison site, less of a muddle. Find the actual tariff details and your consumption, work it out yourself. Doubt you can save £130 on £700. Have you factored in possible cashback, and why cap now when prices are dropping.
p.s. don't know your circs. but £700 aint too bad.0 -
Thanks for the reply Ken! I live in a 2 BR flat with a kid and partner.
As you say prices are falling but I guess as winter approaches they will all increase the prices so am just trying to understand how good that move maybe.
Why I am doing the comparison from two sites is, just to confirm that I get same or similar results ? and that I dont end up in a soup switching and things become worse in terms of customer satisfaction etc.
I did a search again and it is now showing £170 difference0 -
If you sure, duke, go via Quidco, not sure if the cashback is still going but was £87.50. You rich.0

I have just rung up to switch from n power to scottish power as I could save around £300 a year. I am on a prepayment meter and was paying over 15p a unit in the day and they are 10.731p a unit with scottish power. Was a little reluctant to change but when I have sat all weekend to work it all out, it will infact work out a lot cheaper and better for us, esp as we are high electricty users. Although I am on different taffits etc, I cant really say for your circumstances.
I would spend a day or 2 sitting doen and working out your last will based on scottish powers charges and compare it to your current providers charges on that bill.0 -
I'm sooooo confused, I don't know who to switch to? At present I'm with Npower and have been for a few years now but am fed up with paying £57 per month for gas and £70 per month for electricity on a direct debit. Last June switched my tariff over to the SOL12 to try and save some money by still staying with Npower but that only ended up me saving £1 off each utility direct debit monthly payment, hardly worth all the hassle. Had to chase them for my online bill when it finally came through end of Nov 08, just been chasing them yet again for my quarterly bill/statement only to be told that I don't get a quarterly bill/statement but a 6 monthly one!!! Not very happy with that as have always had quarterly bills/statements. So went onto 3 different sites to see who to switch too, cheapest were BG, Eon and Edf but when I looked up their reviews they don't seem to have a very good feedback, I don't want to switch only to have more hassle. Is there any provider out there that gives a good and fair deal and also has good customer service???:A0
