A+L account

In Jan i opened a premier account where it states " our free and easy switching services"

they didnt "switch" any of my dd over- i phoned blah blah i sent an angry email explaining what had happened- they acknowledged my complaint and said they would investigate it! if it took any more than 4 weeks to resolve they would write out again explaining this....

i got my letter during the week and it said they are still investigating it?

imo this is ridiculous as if it was so easy to switch in the beginning this wouldn't have happened, it shouldnt take more than 4 weeks?

i think i might just cancel my account but the online banking is better than my currents banks but i am sooooo frustrated at how they've dealt with me?

am i wrong?

I've used this service too, they sent me a form with all my DD's as provided by Natwest. A&L asked me to check all of them and indicate which ones to transfer to my A&L account and return it to them.
Did they do this with you? If not I would ask why.

nope they didnt- i phoned them and they said my old bank didnt send the dd details, so i phoned my old bank and they said they did on the 27th jan, so i phoned a+l back and told them this- was told they didnt receive them (tech problem) and to ask my old bank to send them again or ask for the org. nos myself which i did and my bank said they cant do this unless my new bank requests them again!

so then i cracked up and sent them the email and got the letter to say they'd investigate it!

i've just signed up for a halifax acc- hopefully theyll be better??

I presume you are phoning the switching team?
Surely you checked the direct debits had been sorted before they were due?
IMO, they have let you down by not providing the service, considering this was a new account I would think they would want to keep your custom and ensure that you stay.
If you do move to a different account make sure you check all payments and direct debits are completed by visiting a branch and getting a printout of your Standing Orders and Direct Debits, I know A&L stated that you had to use the online facility to get the £100 cash reward - not sure if this is why you switched.
Bear in mind that you should allow 3-5days for a DD to be set up and try to leave funds in the original account until you are 100% certain that it is set up. If you have insufficent funds for this try to arrange a temporary overdraft whilst the account is set up.
    Hopefully this helps.
