Sainsburys maternity benefits - anyone know?

Hi

Im trying to find out what Sainsburys maternity benefits offer, as HR are not able to provide me with the details. Does anyone out there know what this is? is this the legal bare minimum?

I work for Tesco. Are in any union? I 've found this on USDAW website:
    http://www.usdaw.org.uk/equality/resource_library/1076079120_3298.html
There's lots of other stuff in the resource library, hopefully useful even you're not a member.
I can't believe there'e no-one who can give you any info at work:eek:

SMP increased yesterday and I've noticed the usdaw library hasn't updated yet.
I have the number for Women's and Equality Officer, Ruth Cross at USDAW Central Office, 0161-224-2804. She should be able to tell you of Sainsbury's own maternity policy.

That's because they don't want men to find out that women are entitled to a contractual benefit that men aren't, and end up getting taken to tribunals for equal pay and sex discrimination.

Yes, but what if a man wanted to take time off when his partner went back to work? The mother might earn more, or might prefer to retuirn to work. Why is it assumed women will be the ones who should be taking a substantial amount of time off?

Fair point, although progress has been made in regards to paternity and adoption leave there is an inbalance in that situation.
Forgive my lame attempt at humour.;)
