:j I Love Index-linked Savings Certificates. ;) Although I am spreading over monthly to take into account of all RPI flux.

Why - inflation isnt exactly high? Unless you are a high rate tax payer & have a lot of spare cash to protect, not really that advantageous atm.

For the mixture of investments they would be there to provide a little income - only 1% or so - with full RPI protection for the capital and no capital value variation. The gilts would have capital value variation but maybe also deliver higher income, so there's a trade-off possible between the two depending on how much variation someone wants.

@a7man I decided to spilt my savings into two. Fifty five percent goes into Cash ISA (once that is filled), then into accounts with best interest. Thirty three percent goes into Index-linked Savings Certificates because I want to ensure that my value of these savings goes in line with the Inflation (although RPI is lower than CPI, it is better than nothing). Beside, they are for long terms, can you say the inflation is still low in four years time? ten years time?

As for investment, twelve percent hopefully would goes into Halifax Sharebuilder to be invest into shares.
