So i got my bill (89 days) as my landlord made us switch from British gas to Scottish Power.. they were supposivly cheaper. Now i called them asked them for the tarrif i got 6 different answers.. I called and asked for the cheaper times... I got told 4 different answers!

Anyway i was paying like 179.00 for Nov 30-Jan 12 with British gas.

NOW i got my bill Jan 12-april 4th 588.69!!!!! !!!!!! ive checked ive remained consistant with teh amount of units ive used etc...

We are on Eco 7.. We do EVERYTHING at night heck i get up at 12am to do laundry im that tight with the electricity

I cant afford this bill Oh and the nice people of Scottish power had us on a DD of 38.00 per month therefore we are SOOO far behnd now i feel ill!

I just had a new baby 3 weeks ago and there is NO WAY i can afford this bill

Any advice they PROMISED us they would save us money and weve litterally used the SAME units!

  • I wonder if you are being charged for day units at night rate and vice versa in error?

make sure to double check you are still on the same economy 7 hours.

ours is 10pm until 12pm night rate

    12am until 2am day rate

    2am until 7am night rate

therefore our 7 hours are split .
just thought i would mention it because you said you put your wash on at 12am, which in our case i would be using day rate elec.

we are with scottish power in manchester area.

    hope you get sorted

How did he do that?

If you are the named account holder, only you can switch supplier and you are free to choose any supplier you wish.

They managed to transpose my gas and elecy after a meter reader had been.
Didnt pick it up for a while until I queried the bill.
Took ages for them to correct their error.
Also had the same issue with the DD was £50/month then in March said it was going up to £118!

I have had it with SP - off to Ebico with quarterly billing. So I pay for what I use when I've used it.
Seems to me all the companies estimating DD payments systems are pants!
