7 Month old Tumbkle Dryer not Heating

Hi All,

We bought a Creda Tumble Dryer last October and it is no longer drying. It turns, but it seems to not be heating.

We purchased it from Apollo 2000 who have gone bust, so I have to go to Creda direct which I plan to do tomorrow, but I want to get a definate standpoint before I call them.

Are they obliged to fix it. And can they charge us for doing so?

Thanks in advance

They don't have to fix it, and they can charge you.

    HTH.

Exactly. You can then try and claim the money back from administrators, but you will be at the bottom oh the list of creditors and very lucky to see any money.

Alot of manufacturers are very good in this sort of situation and will normally repair it free of charge.

You need to consider if there is a manufacturer's guarantee. If there is, they are contractually bound to fix things in accordance with the guarantee.

Did you pay on credit card?

Apparantly on some tumbles there is a reset button on the back, little red one I think, That could solve the problem and might be worth a try :o. Other than that, best of luck with getting it sorted.

The credit card point is a good call.

As for the manufacturers warranty, the manufacturer has never entered into a contract with the end user so they wouldnt be bound to these. The manufacturer made a contract with the retailer who in turn made a contract with the consumer.

If the manufacturers do advertise a warranty, they are more than likely going to act on it.

you should be fine, but you will need proof of purchase. i.e. to show its under 1yr. try ringing at 8 when they first open or leave it til tues, the lines are extra busy on a monday.

Along the same lines, what would happen if the extended warranty was purchased with the dryer? I believe the warranty is with another company. Would it still be honoured?

Just on this point, the manufacturers guarantee is contractually enforceable as it is construed in law as a collateral contract. Alternatively, the OP would have rights under the Contracts (RIghts of Third Parties) Act 1999.

    Hey guys,

Many thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I could not get on this page sooner and my g/f was adament that we needed a new tumble dryer for the towels (they must be nice and soft you see), so i gave in and we went and bought a new one.

However, at £140, I would still like to recoup some of that money.

I paid on a Visa Debit Card, which I believe gives 120 days cover. Is this from the time of the transaction, or the time of when the company goes bust? Reading this here: http://whatconsumer.co.uk/consumer-rights-retailer-goes-bust/ it gives the impression that you can claim back within 120 of a company going bust.

Am I reading that incorrectly or does that sound right?
