Hi sorry if this is not techie enough to qualify
My laptop battery I think has packed up totally
I have a DEll Inspiron 1300
There are 4 small lights on bottom left currently the third from left is flashing orange
If I remove the mains lead it dies instantly
I have looked on the internet and can find them at various prices
Lots seem to come from hong kong (on ebay) are these ok to buy or inferior in some way ? (I know mine says made in Japan on it HD438)
Is there a good UK site that has good prices that anyone can suggest
With business seeming to close overnight these days I cannot afford to pay and not get my goods as I wouldn't be able to find more cash at the moment
Any help gratefully received

Does the battery LED turn green when the mains power is plugged in?
Have you checked that the battery is firmly in place?0 -
This is what I found from the manual which I downloaded from the Dell support site
"Flashing orange: The battery charge is low."
"If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the battery may be defective. See “Contacting Dell.”"
How long have you had it?0 -
Dells tech support page
Just put your laptops details in

Yes it goes green when plugged in but still flashes orange intermittent
It is firmly in place
I have had it 3 years
I have been told by smartypants all son, that it's because I have used it on mains too much & don't allow it to discharge properly"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
