    Hi Adz1000

As stewie_griffin says the prices you quote are for a heatwise meter.

These meters are for all electric properties with storage heaters. They give 10 hours of storage and water heating per day at a cheaper rate.

This is split into three blocks at the following times.
    • 3 hours in the afternoon between 1pm and 4.30pm
    • 2 hours in the evening between 5.30pm and 10pm
    • 5 hours at night between 12am and 7am
Heatwise is a comfort tariff rather than an economical one. It is designed so the storage heaters do not cool down and the house and water should stay warm throughout the day.

Units used during the above times are charged at the lower rates as per the night/afternoon/evening sections of your post.

Heatwise sits alongside your standard Economy 7 tariff. Therefore, electricity used outside of these times is charged at Economy 7 rates.

These are the primary, secondary and night units. These rates are the same as our standard tariff.

From the details on your bill I would agree with other posters that the increase in cost is a combination of higher prices and greater usage during the winter months. Also, the later bill covers a 93 day period whereas the older one is over 83 days.

To be absolutely sure of your usage give us a call with your meter readings. We will produce an accurate bill so you can see exactly what you are using and how much it is costing.

Not sure how you pay Adz1000 but extra discount is available if you set up a Direct Debit. :)

It may benefit you to have a word with our Energy Efficiency department. This team can advise of ways you might reduce your usage. If you would like to talk to them please call 0500 201 000.

Our website also contains useful tips on saving energy. The interactive house may be of particular interest.

    Hope this helps. :)
