thanks for that BUT and this is a BIG BUT- when i read the info about how to take care of the solid oak- I decided that oiling it 4 times a year would not happen hence any money saved may be lost by the poor condition the items would end up in!

have gone to Darnel- Sheffield care of Emujiuce- looked goo in there lots on offer.

    Hi there
we oiled the unit with danish oil but it kind of gave it a glaze and we deided we preferred it without so we left the coffee table and tv unit, been 18 months now and they all look great, so I don't think you HAVE to oil them.

    SOO i went to:

    http://www.sheffielddiscountfurniture.co.uk/

parked outside in the car park of this warehouse. I go into the warehouse and when we come out to get some hand wipes for the kids - someone had bloody broken into it !!

The back window smashed- no idea why sinec the car loks a tip and nothing more valuble than car toys in the back seat- they obviously went straight for the back seats to look into the boot- found nothing and ran off.

    No witness /No cctv.

Spent 30mins clearing the glass so could drive home safely.

OK MY ADVICE- be aware if visiting this place. There were others visitors who came and went with no problems but I am sure the car park was being watched in order to time the break in with others coming and going ( there is little thru traffic and no walk thru )

Anyway - hoorah for trying to money save eh !

Oh - they do have some bargins- although not everything is good value AND make sure you inspect the furniture carefully.

I have posted as a seperate thread- to vent/warn others- sorry if incorrect to do this

1.we have a henry - ok but not good for retaining allergens etc- i think most of the dust gets chucked back into the room- hence meile since got good reiews for this from the which ! tests. There is a current £30 for 10 year guarentee which i will take out judging from the cost of repairs you quoted

2.John lewis isn't on quidco or greasy- the only way of making money on the spend was doing it on a john lewis card or cash back card- and the 5% off doesnt make it affordable.

3.Price matching- yes I can get the electric one priced matched...looking into it.

    thanks

Definatly go for the extended guaruntee if
you are going to buy the Meile.

we have dogs, cats, small kids and teenagers
littering up the place at a fast rate
In a perfect world they would eat everything
in the garden tip toe round bare foot never
make things that involves cutting, glueing etc
all our Dysons died a death as well as the Meile
although it was good when working.just looking
now the new Henry bags I have are the hepa flow
ones that trap everything and must say it does
seem as effective as the Meile, but a lot stronger
    construction.

By the way the fault on ours was and I am not
good at describing this, the wide brush that goes
on the end of the pole,it has a motor in it and
without that working the vacuum was useless.

I had visions of mine lasting for years, more fool
me and JL were not interested, wish there has
been an extended guaruntee when we got ours
    :j:j:j
