Coventry Building Society have launched a new combined savings and current account paying 5.1%.
The Coventry First account, as it is called, pays 5.1% to customers who deposit at least £1,000 a month into their account, up to a balance of £250,000. The rate is guaranteed to stay 0.6% above base rate (currently 4.5%) for the first year. The rate includes a 0.85% bonus.
The account provides a £250 interest free overdraft facility. Customers are issued with a Visa debit card, but there is no cheque book with this account. It can be accessed via online banking, telephone banking, post or the branch.
If the minimum deposit is not met each month, the rate will drop to 0.95%.
This account offers customers instant access to their money, and does not impose any minimum balance restrictions.

Does anyone know of any promotion codes/incentives for opening this account (apart from the top interest rate)? The online application form gives the opportunity to enter a reference code. I cannot recall seeing this on any cashback sites.
Many thanks

I've moved the [ B ] tags and the link (in my original post) now works!
I'm surprised to see that the thead I started back on the 3rd March is back again on the main Savings & Investments board. The Coventry account is a really good one, if you're prepared to have at least £1,000 per month paid in.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

Don't be surprised - it is a good deal and good spot. I saw it in branch but rather than create a new thread I nipped through and found your message which explains it. Given the reducing rates on savings (eg Cahoot) it has prompted interest in the higher rates available elsewhere.
I would still be interested to hear of any incentives before signing up, if anyone has seen any?
Many thanks

No incentives on this one at the moment, AFAIK. I guess with a rate like that they don't need them!
BCEveryone needs something to believe in.
