What if we just have a little and then not bother, Just enjoy the now.
I am not saying lets not save as you say we should have about 3 times your monthly out goings, Would that not be enough for YOU!!!!

    1. You seem to have very bad grammar.
    2. This is savings forum. People are here because they want to save, not to spend.
    3. 3 months outgoings is not enough to start a business. Have you ever thought people might be savings for something in particular which is going to cost a little more than 3 months outgoings?

Lokolo is right. Although I do have equally bad grammar.

All savers does have an aim. It is very rarely the case of "I want to save money because I like saving."

Some save to maintain emergency funds, to pay off debts or to buy very expensive possession that you would not rather used the cards for. I am glad to say that I have never used the credit cards but rather using saving a set amount every month for the item I want to get and making sure it is actually worth the value.

Currently, I am saving for a holiday in Australia, even though I can afford the holiday straight away. Of course, the longer aim is to buy nice home for myself and I am also saving for that as well. But ultimately, it is to save for financial independence.

I am of the mind that the emergency funds should have enough money to pay for your bills, rent and taxes for the whole year in case of losing the job. Due to nature of my disability, it take much longer for me to find next job in case of unemployment.

I think even in places like this you should think before you say anything.I know I am not very clever and my Grammar is not good. But I thought up to now I was doing 'ok' as I left school with nothing and it is only now that I am now starting to take lessons for reading etc Plus up to 9 months ago I could not even turn a computer on. And it was only because some one said to me about not saving too much that i asked

Indeed just put a few more fullstops in ;) I couldn't understand what point you were trying to make.

Everyone has different wants and needs, some spend money they haven't got. Some don't want to save a penny because they cannot see the point. Some people want to save as much money as they can for their kids or whatever.

    @ BIZZIZY,
Having three months savings put by is a fair emergency fund.
Some here take life way too seriously, have some fun stick it in Premium Bonds. Interest is crap, but so is everywhere else, and you never know.

Truth is if you ain't got enough to save long term why beat yourself over the head about it.

Tell the other posters "just calm down dears, the world's changing not ending"

    Best of luck.

Is your message good grammar? Like you, I found the first message difficult but when I commented on someone's grammar in the past I was bombarded with messages criticising me for being unkind. They were right of course, we should all try to be kind to each other. At least Izzy is trying to improve his/her written English. With regard to saving, I have no choice really as I have been told that I should not fly; not even to Spain. Having big jobs done in the house is definitely out of the question. So, I worked, saved, and made a resolution that in retirement we would always have a car and anything else
that appealed but if you are not spending what comes in you find that the savings add up. Illness strikes at the most inconvenient times!

Hi Tara, it was all about the pressure in the cabin. They thought I had a rare lung disease (Pulmonary Hypertension) as well as valvular heart disease but I had a procedure to check the BP in the lungs a few weeks ago and apparently, I haven't got it. My own cardio, a really caring doctor, was the one who said he didn't want me to fly but since then another consultant has said it would be OK but as I don't feel great I'll just enjoy my computer and gardening - well, sowing seeds at least;).
