INDEX , deliveries very slow

I just called INDEX.co.uk to check out my order that I ordered online last week 10/12/04 (0845 075 2233 8am-8pm) and she told me that my delivery would be 30th Dec!!
So I had to cancel. ::)
It's worth calling them up and seeing what their delivery date is, if you are waiting for a delivery. Their vague "we might be a bit date" notices on their confirmation emails are a bit of a laugh.
(Note: all items were in stock and not bulky)

I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Working for the company that delivers for Index I can tell you that a truck goes down to the local Index everyday and picks up the stuff people have ordered and brings it to the warehouse. If not parcelled up at Index shop then this will be done at the main DC. They will then be shipped out to the local delivery depot. Everything that comes into the depot the previous night should be delivered the next working day. If not, the longest amount of time for the depot should only really be 1 or 2 days at the most. We are busy but we have been delivering on Saturdays since October and therefore should not be behind. Not sure why it was going to take so long but be careful 'cos people who have cancelled, I have delivered their stuff to them a few days later!!**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

Thanks Bertie, hopefully my order is cancelled.
Perhaps it's a different carrier here in N.Ireland (and if so it's worth a phone call to check if it's something vital.)I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.0 -
ordered a stereo from lxdirect over 2 weeks ago and the site said 48 hours delivery here i am two weeks later and i have not received anything, i called them three times and asked when it was coming each time i was told to wait the maximum period which was upto today.
i got sick of waiting so wrote an official letter to them today stating i expect the product sent via a next day courier and be here friday or i will take the case further.
apparantly my package didnt even make it to the delivery company!!0 -
i used to work for a store and yes the deliveries are slow. if it is in store when you order you will get it in 48 hrs usually as the carriers are quite good.
BUT if it comes from COF the central ordering centre, as i have posted b4. you may get it for xmas but which xmas this or next we were never sure.
My advice to anyone at this time of year is check if the store have one if so it can always be sent out to you. I have been know to drive 45miles on xmas eve to hand deliver stock that has never arrived!!!!!!!0
