We have had a static (nine in total ) over the last 30 years on various sites on the East coast of Yorkshire. They depreciate like nothing else as, once you have bought one, no matter who owns the site they have got you as regards future value. Having said this I wouldn't be without ours it's got all the mod cons ie. double glazing, central heating, en-suite etc., we take our two dogs and go most weekends
we love it.
There is no sub-letting on our site, which we prefer (having been on both) and no council tax to pay as you must show your council tax bill for your own residence.
I would say go for it as long as you realise the hellish depreciation and factor that into the enjoyment of packing a bag and going whenever it suits you.

£960 for fees sounds quite cheap if you say £20 a week plus your gas etc not bad I'd love to get away at the weekends just to get away from my neighbours from hell0

£960 does sound cheap, and you've done well if you've found somewhere without age restrictions.
When I looked into it, you were looking at £20-30k minimum for the van, £2-3k/yr site fees, and had to remove the van when it got to 12 yrs old. Add it all up and I was looking at £4-5k/yr.
I bought a motorhome instead...I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
I was wondering if the site you favour has a website to that those who have experienced owning one, could have a look and see if we can pick up anything of note. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
