I need 10 internal doors - where to buy and how much?

Options
Put horrible, cheap B&Q pine doors on about 9 years ago and now want to replace with something decent - doors suitable for a semi built in 1860.

Where can I buy 10 good quality doors - all the same, that won't cost me a fortune, or should I just paint the doors I have and save the money?

Not knowing what you consider a fortune it's difficult to judge.

I bought a pair of doors from the following company this week that were delivered yesterday and I'm delighted with the quality.

When checking prices make sure you check the VAT situation, most companies quote excluding VAT, the above companies prices included VAT and it made them competitive.

I ordered a pair of these....they are engineered wood, but I can't tell the difference between this and solid oak visually.

I have no affiliation with these people, but they were helpful, provided good communication and delivered promptly.

I used these people for the fixtures and fittings.

If you are going for decent doors, make sure you get ball race hinges, the difference in quality and action is huge.

Are they that bad? I vote for paint the doors and save the money atm. Would it improve things to change the handles only. There is not just the cost of the doors to consider , but also the cost of having them fitted or the hassle of DIY, plus the cost of fittings etc.

Hmmm, might have to go the paint route - don't want to spend a thousand pounds on 10 doors!

 Reminds you why you bought the B&Q doors all those years ago!

The price of these sorts of things really mounts up, once all the extras are added on!

Why do you think that your doors are horrible. If it is just because you do not like the pine finish, then the answer is obviously to paint them. A new door is not really going to look much different to what you already have, once you have painted them. It does not matter how cheap things are, once you start multiplying by ten, then the total starts to rack up.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

True - maybe a nice coat of paint will do the !!!!!.

Or some stain/varnish, if you still want them to look like wood.
I think a dark oak colured stain would normally look good in an older house, but it depends on the rest of the decor.

the paint finish is all important, either get a pro to do them and then fit good furniture etc, or remove them so you can paint them on a trestle table no runs. not done or heard of but is spraying them an option

If they are the £24 B&Q doors, they are terrible quality. I put one in when on a budget. It warped with the seasons and to get a good finish for painting, you would have had to spend 3 hours and loads of sandpaper.
I got really decent 6 panel colonial doors from Focus for about £40 each. Ready to paint or stain. A much better product.

i have just replaced 15 doors in my house, i had considered going for more expensive doors but it was going to cost too much. In the end i went for Wickes primed 6 panel doors. With two coats of white Dulux gloss they look fantastic. they were about £14.50 a door. I can send you a picture of mine if you like (pm me).

The knotty pine stuff is not very good thats why i went for the panel doors. Just get nice handles and it will transform the doors
