Discount on Rail Travel

I need to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh to get to work, but getting the bus or driving takes unfeasibly long due to rush hour traffic.
This leaves getting the train as the only option, but as a season ticket is nearly £3000 I wondered if anyone had any ideas or suggestions for getting a discount on this?
I've tried searching already, but I can only find a couple of expired offers and everything else seems to relate to journeys in England...
I'm willing to reward good idea with 'thanks'!

Do you have a Railcard? 1/3 off most train fares for the princely sum of £20 a year.
Sorry I can't think of anything more inventive

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just checked it out & unfortuntely it doesn't seem to save me any money as it would appear that you can't get a railcard discount if you are buying a season ticket.
The total cost of buying a discounted ticket everyday seems to be quite a bit more expensive than just buying a season ticket outright. Worth bearing in mind if you're only making a few journeys though!Nice to save.0 -
Other than that some rail companies offer cheap tickets online (First ScotRail offered something like 50% off awhile back) so it might be worth having a look on the discounts board to see if there's anything current.
Other than that I think ticket prices are fairly standard :-(#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET
