Car wheel coming off driving at 40 mph
The car has a constant speed of 40 miles per hour. Accidentally and in one moment the well goes off.
However the car is keeping its speed even on three wheel (40 miles* hour *-1).
You as a driver just realized that the wheel is overtaking you…
Could you why the wheel everytime overtakes the car?
Give us exact explanation please.
(states like- there is no resistance et cetera are more jokes than answer in this case…)

The wheel would not overtake the car. Why would you think it should?0

Newtons first law of motion - if an object is moving at a constant velocity it will continue at this velocity until acted on by a force.
To overtake either the car needs to slow or the wheel needs to speed up.0 -

It always does in silent movies.:D0 -
Are the good people of MSE doing your homework for you?0

1) The car is going downhill & gravity is acting of the loose wheel.
2) The loose wheel is travelling in a straighter line than the car.
3) Possible centrifugal involvement & the release of friction forces.
4) Probably something else I have missed.Not Again0 -
Less wind resistance on the wheel rather than the whole car?0

There's no such thing as centrifugal force......0

I have seen a wheel come off a range rover on the M25 a few years ago, the range rover carried on moving for a short distance and the wheel rolled backwards along the line of the central reservation. I also had a car written off by a land rover wheel flying off on the bend outside my home a few years ago, is it just rovers that lose their wheels?0
