Family Travel Insurance: Inc. children who aren't permanently resident with parent?

Hi

I have annual family travel insurance with my bank however, my partner's children who live with their Mom aren't covered by the policy EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE HOLIDAYING WITH US because they aren't permanently resident at our address.

I checked this out with the insurer/bank because I had heard something about this being a common feature of family travel insurance before. It does seem very unfair - especially as in this instance it is is usually/always my partner who takes his kids on holiday.

Can anyone advise which/if any travel companies do include on their annual family travel insurance cover for children who aren't permanently resident at the holidaying parent's address?

Also can we just get travel insurance to cover the kids as we are both covered?

For others in this situation is it better to check if your insurance is covering your kids or just cross fingers hope/pretend they are?

I'm not aware of anyone who would cover children that are not resident with you.

Most policies also will not cover the children on an annual multi trip policy if they are travelling independently from the policy holder. There are some companies that do cover the children including PJ Haymen on their Travel Plus Policy so one option is for the mum to take an annual policy including them.

In an ideal world it can sometime be better for the children to have a policy with the same Insurer as you. I say this as if there is a claim you only have one Insurer to deal with which can be a lot easier and help on the cover in some circumstances. If you post the name of which bank your with we can find who the Insurance is actually with.

P.S Not all Insurers will offer a seperate policy for the children unless the adults are insured with them so be aware of this when shopping around
