I have been inspired to get out my steam cleaner, as a result of reading some earlier threads. However, I can't get the lid to the boiler bit off. Does anybody have any ideas of how to remove the lid, as I don't have the instruction leaflet any more.

Hiya
You might be able to find instructions on the Morphy Richards site:-
Morphy Richards Home page.
I think you need to click on downloads to get to their manuals and instruction books.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I had use of my mum's grimebuster, same make/type thing as you have and it's great. You can't remove the lid until the contents have cooled, due to the pressure in the tank etc. If it has been sometime since and the tank is cold then perhaps the lid has been misthreaded and it's stuck. The lid has threads on it that line up with the inner part on the tank where it's screwed in and perhaps it wasn't placed in level and it's misthreaded. One word of advice too, don't strain the hose too much, or pull the machine with the hose or it will cause major problems when it comes to the water boiling/heating etc in the tank.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Thanks very much to both. I discovered that there was still some water in the tank from last time, so I just heated it up and it seems fine. Just about to start on the microwaveSo many shoes, so little time....0
